Betel Leaf (Lá Trầu)

Betel Leaf (Lá Trầu)

Lá trầu, also known as betel leaf (Piper betle), is a tropical vine known for its heart-shaped, glossy green leaves. The plant is native to Southeast Asia and is commonly used in traditional cultural practices and rituals, especially in countries like India, Vietnam, and Indonesia.

Betel leaves have a slightly peppery, spicy flavor and are often chewed as part of a traditional betel quid, which includes areca nut, slaked lime, and sometimes tobacco. The practice of chewing betel quid is known for its stimulating effects and is an important part of social and ceremonial customs in many cultures.

Betel leaf vines thrive in warm, humid climates and can grow up trellises or other support structures. The plant prefers partial shade and requires well-draining soil with regular watering

USDA Growing Zone: 9-11
